North Plains is probably most well known for its Garlic Festival, held each year in mid-August. This festival grew out of North Plains Day's, and first took on the "Elephant Garlic" theme in (year). Now, besides providing fun for the town's citizens, the event draws thousands to our small town to sample all sorts of garlic treats, including garlic ice cream! The festival also features games, music, and craft vendors. For more information about previous Garlic Festivals and schedule for this year's upcoming festival, check out the Garlic Festival page on the Chamber of Commerce website.
North Plains has many other events throughout the year, some for citizen's and some open to the general public. These events are announced in our Monthly Newsletter and we will provide dates on the schedule below as they become known.
The City holds Ice Cream Socials at the Jesse Mays Community Hall at various times during the year. Besides being a fun way to catch up with neighbors, these occassions are also used to gather citizen's input into future City planning.
Get your best chili recipe out and compete! Not a cook? Come enjoy your neighbor's efforts and say thank you to the many volunteers who help make our city such a great place to live.
The city encourages citizens to hold their garage sales on one weekend in May. The city pays for advertisement in the local area so you're guaranteed a good turn-out. This day is probably almost as popular as Garlic Festival with the general public.
Held on a Saturday in June, this day gives us all a chance to clean-up our yards and get rid of that junk! Volunteers help those who do not has transport, and Garbarino Disposal and Recycling Service graciously provides dumpsters for the event. This service is available to citizens only.
