Volunteer Recognition
The City holds a volunteer recognition event each year in April at the Jessie Mays Community Hall. Besides being a fun way to catch up with neighbors, this occassion is used to formally recognize individuals who have volunteered their time to making improvements in the community. This years event will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012.
MAY
May Garage Sale Madness
The City encourages citizens to hold their garage sales the first Saturday in May (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012). The Chamber of Commerce pays for advertisement in the local area so you're guaranteed a good turn-out. . To have your garage sale address listed, please sign up at City Hall. Garage sale signs may be picked up from City Hall, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
May Clean-up Day
Held on the second Saturday in May (8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012), this day gives everyone a chance to clean-up their yards and get rid of that junk! Volunteers help those who do not have transport, and Garbarino Disposal and Recycling Service graciously provides dumpsters for the event. This service is available to residents only.

JUNE
St. Edwards Annual Dinner and Auction
St. Edward's Catholic Church conducts this annual dinner and auction the first Friday in June. This year the dinner and auction will be held Friday, June 8, 2012. For time and ticket information please call (503) 647-2131.
North Plains Farmer's Market
The North Plains Farmer's Market is an annual event beginning in 2011. We are a member of the Oregon Farmer's Markets Association. This year the market will be held on 10 consecutive Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., beginning July 30, 2011 through October 1, 2011.

Ice Cream Socials
The City holds Ice Cream Socials at the Jessie Mays Community Hall at various times during the year. These occassions are sometimes used to gather citizen's input into future City planning. The first Ice Cream Social of the year will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

National Night Out
The City holds National Night out in partnership with the North Plains Police Department, Public Works Department and the Washington County Fire District #2 and Sheriff's Office. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn about keeping safe in the community. In the past, we have given out bicycle helmets and provided free food! Hope you can join us this year on ther first Tuesday in August (August 7, 2012).
Elephant Garlic Festival
A premier event held on the second weekend in August (Friday-Sunday), the Elephant Garlic Festival attracts thousands of visitors annually. The Festival features music, crafts, entertainment, kids' activities and of course lots of garlic cooked in many food, including ice cream. Join us for the Garlic Festival Friday, August 10 through Sunday, August 12, 2012.

Chili Cook Off
Get your best chili recipe out and compete! Not a cook? Come enjoy your neighbor's efforts and say thank you to the many volunteers who help make our City such a great place to live. The 2011 Chili Cook-off will be held Thursday,October 18, 2011.
Senior Center
Occasionally throughout the year, the Senior Center sponsors fundraising events such as pancake breakfasts, dinners and sales, We will keep you updated as these events are announced.
Golf Tournament
The North Plains Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual golf tournament. The 25th Annual Chris Olson Golf Tournament will be held at the Sunset Grove Golf Course. The event will be held September 9, 2011. For more information, please visit the North Plains Chamber of Commerce web site.

St. Edwards Christmas Bazaar
St. Edward's Catholic Church conducts this bazaar. Usually held the first weekend in December, its a great way to pick up those holiday gifts and enjoy the season's festivities. This year's event is to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
North Plains Holiday Bazaar
Located at Jessie Mays Community Hall on December 3, 2011, 9-4p.m.. Event will include crafts, a book sale by Friends of the Library and baked goods.
The Jingle
The annual North Plains Jingle is scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. starting at the Jessie Mays Community Hall. For more information, please visit the North Plains Chamber of Commerce web site.
