The City of North Plains has many opportunities for volunteers who would like to assist the community.

 

Regular volunteer opportunities include:

 

General office work - If you would like to make yourself available to answer phones, perform filing or assist with making copies please call the City Manager at 503-647-5555.

Grant writers - The City needs assistance with identifying and completing applications for grants for equipment, services and projects.  If you are a good writer and interested in raising funds to improve the community please call the City Manager at 503-647-5555.

Library volunteer - If you can assist with sorting books, special events or reading groups please consider becoming a volunteer.  Please see this site.

 Flyer distribution - Periodically the City will distribute flyers within the community.  Typically 70-100 flyers are given to volunteer who will deliver them to North Plains residences, which requires an hour or two of your time.  If you would like to be placed on list of volunteers please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Teach a Class - Do you have a special talent or skill you would like to share with other community members.  The City will help arrange a space for classes that are provided to community members at little or no cost.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Join a Committee or Board -  The following vacancies exist on City committees and boards:

Budget Committee 1 Vacancy - This 14-member committee works with the City Council and staff to develop the City's annual budget.  It typically meets between 2-6 times between January and June of any year. Budget Committee members have direct input on how programs should be funded.  No previous experience required.  Applicants must be 18 years of age and resident of North Plains. to apply please complete this application. 

Library Board 1 Vacancy - This is a five member board which asssists in developing ideas and recommending policies and programs for the public library to the City Council.  Meetings are typically held the third Wednesday monthly.  Please see the current notice for the vacancy here and complete the application here for submittal to the City Recorder.

Planning Commission 1 Vacancy - This is a 4-year assignment that involves 4-6 hours per month reviewing business presented to the Planning Commission including design review for new structures, considering land use applications and establishing design guidelines for the community.  To apply please complete this application.

Parks Advisory Committee 1 Vacancy - This is a 4-year assignment that involves 4-6 hours per month reviewing business presented to the Parks Advisory Committee including updates to Parks Master Plan, community hall policies, and developing programs for general recreation needs.  To apply please complete this application.
