Based on input from North Plains residents, the City of North Plains is working to support an expanded food and beverage sector in our community. Residents have said that it is a high priority to have more food and beverage options close to home, rather than at great distance away in other communities. This also aligns with North Plains City Council’s 2021 Economic Development priority of attracting more local dining and services to the City for the convenience and safety of residents.
In response, the North Plains Urban Renewal Agency (“NPURA”) is seeking to partner with new food service businesses locating within the Urban Renewal District (along NW Glencoe Road or along NW Commercial Street) by providing matching tenant improvement grants of up to $50,000. These would be businesses that are looking to operate either in leased space, or owners of commercial property in North Plains seeking to renovate or enhance their own space to operate a new food service business (owner-occupied). Tenant improvement grants may be used for a variety of interior projects, such as:
- Permanent commercial kitchen elements (i.e. hoods, grease traps)
- Interior lighting
- ADA or seismic upgrading and other building code upgrades
- New interior walls
