Municipal Code and Charter

City governments have their own set of laws specific to advancing city and community goals and quality of life. These laws are called a Municipal Code and are a collection of ordinances adopted by the City Council over the years.

The North Plains Municipal Code also includes the City’s Charter.  The Charter is the “Constitution” for the City and serves as the basic set of rules and duties for our City government. It spells out what a city can and cannot do, the responsibilities and authority of the Mayor and City Council, and how a city should be managed and governed.

The City of North Plains Municipal Code and City Charter is hosted by American Legal Publishing. The code is indexed and easily searchable by keyword in the search bar at the top. If you are having troubling finding specific information, please contact the City Recorder at lori.lesmeister@northplains.org
