Public Works

np_dept_logos_publicworks_colorThe City of North Plains Public Works Department provides drinking water, streets, stormwater, and park services to the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department maintains:

  • 21 miles of water mains.
  • Two above-ground water reservoirs with pump stations totaling 3 million gallons.
  • 18.32 miles of streets and stormwater drainage ditches.
  • 7 public parks (4 HOA owned/maintained and open to the public), a community garden, and the Ghost Creek and West Union Pedestrian Paths.
  • 3.5 acres of landscaping and building maintenance including public parks, the library, and city hall.
The Public Works crew is small but mighty with five staff: The Public Works Director Dustin Lueckenotte, and Operations Technicians Javier Espinoza,  Cody Brown, Matt Schnepp, Isaiah Cooper, and George Bergstrom. These staff handle most routine maintenance and small capital projects. Larger capital improvement projects are publicly bid and completed by contractors.
