New Public Works Facility

221127_north_plains_04_web_0Work is underway to build a new 12,000-square-foot Public Works Facility and Emergency Operations Center adjacent to the recently completed water reservoir on West Union Road. The public works facility will consist of two stories of office space to plan for 20+ years of growth in community services, as well as a four-bay garage to provide covered parking for fleet services and maintenance. There will also be yard storage for materials and equipment. This much-needed building is in the City's Capital Improvement Plan and is funded largely by a State Lottery Bond. The current public works space behind City Hall is inadequate to provide the necessary services needed for our expanding community.

Timeline:

  • Design/development phase of the project began in August 2022.
  • In March 2023, City Council authorized a construction management/general contractor award to Swinerton.
  • In early July 2023, necessary permits were submitted with planned site clearing scheduled for August/September
  • A groundbreaking ceremony took place on December 16, 2023. Thank you to the North Plains Chamber of Commerce for making this event happen and thank you to all who attended.
  • The facility is estimated to be completed in early 2025.
