Welcome to North Plains! Here are some resources to help you get settled in:

Water - To set up a water account and initiate water service, please visit our Water Billing page, or call 503.647.5555.

Sewer - Clean Water Services provides wastewater treatment services to our area (503-681-3600).

Electricity - The area’s electric utility is Portland General Electric (800-542-8818).

Natural Gas - NW Natural is the natural gas provider that serves residential customers in western Oregon (800-422-4012). NW Natural has recently launched a new bill discount program for gas customers whose household income is less than 60% of the state median income (SMI). Garbage & Recycling - Garbarino Disposal provides trash, recycling, and greenwaste collection services (503-647-2335).

Police - For emergencies, dial 911. Non-emergency calls for service or to report a crime call 503.629.0111. Visit our North Plains Police Department page for more information about our police services.

Fire and Rescue - For emergencies, dial 911. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is our partner agency providing response and services to North Plains and the surrounding area.

Hospitals/Urgent Care - The closest hospitals with emergency rooms are Kaiser Westside Regional Medical Center, OHSU Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro (about 10 minutes away). There are also numerous urgent care facilities in the area within 10-20 minutes of town including Zoomcare, OHSU Tuality Forest Grove Urgent Care, and Providence Immediate Care.

Mail/USPS - Some North Plains addresses that are located within a 1/4 mile of the post office are required to establish post office boxes in order to receive mail. Please contact the post office to determine if you need this service. USPS is located at 31700 Northwest Commercial Street, North Plains, 97133, or call 503-647-2612.

Schools - North Plains is located within the Hillsboro School District (HSD). North Plains Elementary and Atfalati Ridge Elementary schools provide education for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Evergreen Middle School (7th and 8th) and Glencoe High School (9th-12th) are located in nearby Hillsboro. You can reach HSD at 503.844.1500 or North Plains Elementary at 503.844.1630.

Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services - The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has information about obtaining a driver’s license and licensing your vehicle in Oregon (503-299-9999).

Free Transportation- Ride Connection offers buses that run on a route and schedule in rural Washington County, Forest Grove, Tualatin, King City, and North Hillsboro. These services are free and open to the public. To schedule an off-route pick-up or drop-off (within ½ mile of the route) call 503.226.0700.

Library - North Plains Public Library is a 2,500 square foot facility adjacent to City Hall which houses over 16,000 items in various formats. The collection includes popular materials for all ages. As a member of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS), our Library has access to many other physical and digital materials via a daily courier service. Markets & Groceries - North Plains has a number of mini-markets in town including:

  • North Plains Market on Commercial Street (open most of the day)
  • Chevron Mini-Market on Glencoe Road north of Highway 26 (open 24 hours)
  • Space Age Fuel also on Glencoe Road north of Highway 26 (open 24 hours)
  • AM-PM on Glencoe Road south of Highway 26 (open 24 hours).
Full-service grocery stores like Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertson's, WinCo, Whole Foods, New Seasons, and Walmart can be reached within 15 minutes in the cities of Hillsboro, Banks, and Cornelius. Discount chains like Costco and Grocery Outlet are nearby as well. Markets specializing in Hispanic, Indian, and Asian foods can be found in Hillsboro and Cornelius.

Generally, most shopping areas can be found by traveling east on Highway 26, or south on Glencoe which becomes First Street in Hillsboro.

Veterinary Services - North Plains Veterinary can provide for most small animal needs. Tanasbourne Veterinary provides after-hours and weekend services.

Pet Licensing - If you are new to Washington County, you must license your dog within 30 days with Washington County Animal Services.
